Technical Requirements

Reliable, High Speed Internet Connection

In order to complete the assignments successfully in an online class, students must have consistent and reliable high speed Internet access (cable, DSL, etc).

Knowledge of Learning Management Software

  • Rancho Santiago Community College District uses the Learning Management Software called Canvas. This is the application that will be used in all of my online classes. For more information and tutorials, please visit the District's page Online Student Help.

Additional Equipment

    • Computer: Students must have access to a computer on a regular and continual basis. It is recommended that students have their own personal computers, but there are other options available at the Academic Computer Center and/or rented laptops at the Nealley Library.

    • PDF: Students must complete all assignments in a word processing program, and convert it to a PDF file format. This allows me to read and respond to your documents with ease and avoiding the hassle of non-compatible word processing applications.

      • Students may use Microsoft Word® , Pages for Mac, Google documents, or other programs. However, all documents must be converted to a .pdf format before being uploaded or submitted.

    • File Storage: All files for the courses should be stored on a computer, USB drive, or external drive.

      • Other options include cloud based file storage such as free options like Google Drive, or paid options like Dropbox or OneDrive.

      • See Technologies You Will Use for more information on this topic.
